History
Adnan bin Saidi, (1915 – 14 February 1942), was a Malayan soldier of the 1st Infantry Brigade which fought the Japanese in the Battle of Singapore. He is regarded by Malaysians and Singaporeans today as a hero for his actions on Bukit Chandu. His name is also the namesake for the Malaysian Infantry Fighting Vehicle (MIFV)as well.

Adnan Bin Saidi was born at Sungai Ramal near Kajang, Selangor and was a Muslim of Minangkabau descent. He was the eldest child in his whole family. His younger siblings, Ahmad Saidi and Amarullah Saidi, were also soldiers. Ahmad was killed in action after his ship, HMS Pelanduk, was sunk by the Japanese on route to Australia. Amarullah survived the war and now resides in Kajang, Selangor.

Adnan was married to his wife Sophia Pakir, an Islamic religious teacher. She died in 1949. They had two sons and a daughter, who died soon after birth. Their sons, Mokhtar and Zainudin Adnan now live in the state's of Seremban and Johor respectively.

Battle of Pasir Panjang
Adnan led a 42-strong platoon from the Malay Regiment in the defense of Singapore against the invading Japanese. The soldiers fought at the Battle of Pasir Panjang, at Pasir Panjang Ridge in the Bukit Chandu (Opium Hill) area on 12–14 February 1942. [1] Although heavily outnumbered, Adnan refused to surrender and urged his men to fight until the end. They held off the Japanese for two days amid heavy enemy shelling and shortages of food and ammunition. Adnan was shot but carried on fighting until he succumbed to his injury. After the battle was lost, the Japanese soldiers tied him to a cherry tree and repeatedly bayoneted him to death.

Because of his actions Adnan is currently considered by Malaysians and Singaporeans today as a hero. In their textbooks, he is also credited as the soldier who caught the disguised "Indian troops" marching error in four abreast (Japanese marching style) instead of a line of three (British style of marching).

Truly in love with nature, they obtain the ingredients for their organic juices in their immediate surroundings: Slavonia, the most fertile Croatian agricultural region. They have entrusted the Kuharić Matoš Agency with the task of developing the name, concept and design of their new product. That is how Lovella was born – a juice whose name and design are based on the “In Love with Nature” concept. The package and label design is simple and natural, leaving the center stage to illustrations. They are the work of BooBoo Tannenbaum, one of Croatia’s top illustrators, whose seasoned style perfectly concurs with the assigned concept.

Here is how Creative Director Bojan Matoš and Art Director Luka Kuharić explain their idea: “Since Lovella juices are made exclusively from fresh fruits and vegetables and contain many valuable natural nutrients which, owing to a special method of processing and filling, are almost entirely preserved inside glass bottles, our idea was to have the illustrations show, besides ingredients themselves, the imaginary world of various target groups. Thus for example the illustration for beet shows athletes because beet juice is perfect for replenishing energy, while in the illustration for carrot juice a mother proudly drives her child because carrots bolster the immune system and help create new, healthy cells, which is very important for a child’s healthy development.”

Choc on Choc

Cho2diel6612
Choc-on-Choc was a chocolate dream born in 2003 in a small Somerset barn in the village of Rode, near Bath.

A father and daughter partnership was created as they hit upon a patented new way to make layered chocolate. Since then the company has grown phenomenally and converted a new barn into a factory over four times the size of the original factory, marking the fulfilment of their ambition.

Following the success of the award-winning brand architecture they created for the core Choc on Choc range, BrandOpus were briefed to work on new product development from the brand, a range of chocolate kits.  As the two chocolate kits are aimed at the gifting market, integral to the brief was the creation of packaging design that appealed as a seasonal Christmas present, but also as an all year around birthday present or party activity.
Screen Shot 2012 06 07 at 11 11 46 PM
" The two new products, Our Choc on Choc House and Choc on Choc Painting Kit, are designed to make enjoying delicious Choc on Choc an even more creative experience.  With the same gifting appeal as the core range, Our Choc on Choc House and the Choc on Choc Painting Kit extend the brand appeal beyond adult fans to children too. The Choc on Choc Painting Kit includes everything that little ones need to get stuck into making their own chocolatey masterpieces. The box contains finest Belgian chocolate to melt, piping equipment, templates to guide, simple instructions to follow and even a branded apron to keep little people clean whilst they try their hand at chocolate painting. "

" Our Choc on Choc House, inspired by Hansel and Gretel‘s gingerbread house, satisfies the chocolate lover and taps into the inner child.  The kit contains everything you need to have a go at plan-drawing, brick-making, cement-mixing to build your own chocolate house. Both kits include bespoke instruction sheets designed to be fun and engaging yet easy to understand. BrandOpus’ designs stay true to the core brand equities, whilst featuring new hand-drawn illustrations that bring the concepts to life." -Flo Broughton, Chief Chocolate Lady, Choc on Choc

Before After: Kraft Now Anything Dressing

6 01 12 kraft

This new branding was the result of a brief directing the creation of an ownable and disruptive new package for Kraft Salad Dressing.

Challenge & Key Objectives:
Kraft has been a leader in salad dressing with the reputation for being America’s most famous and favorite brand. This popularity however has left them to look, act and behave like a store brand, with advertising, and packaging that has felt conventional and mundane. In addition, many brands are known for one famous flavor, such as Hidden Valley Ranch. Kraft’s brand was suffering as they have many flavors, rather than one distinct flavor.

Description of you arrived at the final design:
To get people to align with the idea of experimentation and fun with our 72 flavors, we began with this simple premise: because Kraft Salad Dressing is used for so much more than salad, we thought it was unfair to call it salad dressing anymore. So we renamed it Anything Dressing. Therefore, the packaging reflected not only this revolutionary name change. It also presented a variety of foods consumers could make with anything dressing, proving that dressing could actually be used as a dip, as a marinade, as an ingredient in everyday cooking.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market:
Kraft Anything Dressing became a confident & adventurous brand that brought much needed personality not only to Kraft but also to the salad dressing category. The simplified bold typography and cohesiveness of design helped consumers feel confident to move to new flavor options, while still retaining a feeling of Kraft’s strong legacy. In fact, the design was so successful, It inspired people to look at dressing in a whole new way.

Naturlig lett or 'Naturally Light' hit norwegian stores last week.
"Strømme Throndsen Design has assisted Fjordland in developing a revitalised design concept for its Yoplait, Naturlig lett yoghurt range. The objective was to increase the shelf impact and communicate the natural taste in a new and engaging way. The result is a down-to-earth rustic look with the front graphics printed on the backside of the cardboard, leaving the feeling of no artificial ingredients and a natural taste. A highly differentiating design, that reveals the subbrand as the healthiest yoghurt of all."
